  • Sugar 2 Cups
  • Light Corn Syrup 1/2 Cup
  • Egg whites 2
  • Salt 1/4 tsp
  • Vanilla 1 tsp
  • Walnuts(crushed) 1/3 Cup
  • Candied Cherries(Optional) 1/3 cup

Combine Sugar, Syrup, and 1/2 Cup of boiling water. Cook until a small piece forms a hard ball or spins a long thread when dropped into water. This should be about 260F on a candy thermometer. Beat egg whites and salt in large bowl until moist stiff peaks form. Gradually pour in syrup mixture over egg whites while beating. Add vanilla and beat until candy holds it’s shape. Immediately fold in walnuts and if you choose, cherries. Quickly drop heaping spoonfuls onto baking sheet line pans and let stand until dry.

(I’m guessing a fair amount here, the recipie looks incomplete and has been through a few things from the looks of it.)
